Pollination

All the apricot varieties we offer are self-fertile and crop without a pollinator. Spring frost is the worst enemy of the apricot, so choose a gently sloping site facing north, north-east or north-west.

Planting and spacing

Fruit trees go on sale after 15 November, when they are fully dormant. Plant them straight away, before the hard frosts, because autumn planting gives better rooting and growth the following year. If you miss the autumn, plant early in spring. Planting holes should be at least 80 by 80 by 80 centimetres, and the tree goes in at the same depth as it grew in the nursery.

Apricot trees are planted 4 by 5, 4 by 6 or 5 by 6 metres apart.

Apricot trees fruit early, from the third year after planting.
